Apple has finalized the purchase of Israeli flash memory manufacturer, Anobit.
This is the largest acquisition Apple has made since the purchase of NeXT in 1996. Incidentally, the NeXT purchase occurred precisely fifteen years ago today.
Given Apple's increasing reliance on flash memory in all of its devices, the purchase makes sense. Just as Apple invested in P.A. Semi to aid in the development of custom chip designs, Apple's movement toward complete control over its most costly components appears to be moving along nicely.
